Quartz or automatic? Read the movement code
- Quartz (for example, a listing titled VK63): battery-powered, accurate and low maintenance. A quartz chronograph is the lowest-risk way to try the brand.
- Automatic (for example, NH35 or NH36): a mechanical movement that winds from wrist motion. Watch Complications describes the Seiko NH35A as reasonable, common, serviceable and easily regulated. Automatics can gain or lose time, and there is more that can go wrong.
- No movement named: ask the seller or check buyer photos. A watch with an unnamed movement is harder to judge.

A price gap alone doesn’t make an AliExpress listing the better buy. Search results showed PD-1701 listings at roughly $108 to $135, below Pagani’s own “from $151.99”, but we couldn’t confirm those listings are still available or the same variant, and they exclude shipping, any import charges and the warranty. Compare the exact model number.

A first Pagani Design and a low-risk way to try the brand. It is a quartz chronograph, so there is no winding or regulating.

It has the strongest evidence of any Pagani Design listing we could verify: rated 4.8 from 786 reviews in AliExpress’s data. The title lists a VK63 movement, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a ceramic bezel, and it costs under $90.
Watch-outs
Quality varies between watches, and lume is the most-reported weak point in reviews and forums. The reviews may be pooled across sellers and variants, and we couldn’t verify which store sells it or whether it is Pagani’s own store. It is a quartz watch, so it won’t suit you if you want an automatic. We haven’t tested it.

- The crystal. Watch Complications found sapphire on one model and mineral (Hardlex) on the other. Look for “sapphire” in the specs.
- The movement. Look for the code in the title or specs (for example VK63, NH35 or NH36) and be wary of a listing that doesn’t name one.
- Buyer photos. Look for the flaws reviewers report: a misaligned bezel, debris under the crystal, rough lugs and bracelet screws.
- Lume. Weak lume is the most consistent complaint, so don’t buy a Pagani Design for its lume.
- Size. Check the case diameter and lug-to-lug against your wrist. A DD36 is described as 36mm.

- You want a warranty you can claim easily. Buy from Pagani’s own store instead.
